Emerge MX

A platform for thinking, learning and sharing on design.

Through great readings, good venues and an amazing community.

Emerge MX began as a platform to support young Mexican designers through project development and industry partnerships. What started as my design thesis soon evolved into a space for connecting emerging talent with collaborators across sectors.

In 2017, with public funding, Emerge MX became a project focused on publishing, education, and public conversations around design. We launched six print issues exploring how design intersects with politics, education, science, and more—featuring contributions from emerging voices and people from institutions like MIT, Harvard, and Parsons.

Alongside the magazine, Emerge MX hosted open-format events (including design debates) and alternative learning programs. Highlights include a design debate with Coolhuntermx at the Abierto Mexicano de Diseño, and two breakout sessions at the first What Design Can Do Mexico City—on gender in design (with Alice Rawsthorn and Jimena Acosta) and design in social context (with Ana Elena Mallet, Deyan Sudjic OBE, and Marina Willer).
